IMO-certification
“Fair for life“ is an independent certification programme for social accountability and fair trade in agricultural, manufacturing and trading operations. Both criteria are becoming increasingly important for the selection of business partners in the globalized market.
Our Brazilian cocoa is certified by the Swiss Institute for Market Ecology (IMO). With its new programme the institute offers for the first time a uniform certification and control system for a variety of products and companies with a fair and socially compatible production. The new programme complements existing fair trade certification systems and may be applied to commodities in the food and non-food sector. While other standards are limited to certain regions and products, the IMO standard can be applied worldwide. The Fair For Life label stands for strict social, fair trade and environmental criteria which may be adapted to the local circumstances. The programme is based on internationally recognized, fundamental standards such as the conventions of ILO, SA 8000, various fair trade standards and the social criteria of IFOAM.
The certification procedure extends itself from the production level of the original products to the level of the first acquisition of the finished and refined product. Binding supply and delivery contracts that are concluded for a longer period of time require lasting economic and commercial relationships. Additional incentive systems challenge the companies to continuously improve their working conditions and trade criteria. A high standard of quality as well as transparency are further cornerstones of the programme. The “fair for life“ concept has attracted great attention. Companies from different branches and countries have already been certified according to the new system and the demand is continuously increasing.
